About BSSN
In 1986 a group of business owners in the Kansas City area formed The Professional Association of Secretarial Services (PASS) of Greater Kansas City. Their goal was to create a networking group of like businesses where information could be exchanged and new contacts made. And since most of the founding members were home-based, PASS served as their office water cooler. They established PASS as a forum for the discussion and presentation of information of interest to owners of secretarial and word processing businesses. Over the years the types of businesses that PASS represented grew to include desktop publishing, web designers/publishers, resume professionals along with other technical and office support businesses. In 1998, the members of PASS voted to change the name of the group to something that more accurately reflected what they do. No longer secretaries in the traditional sense of the word, the members now supported an entire spectrum of business needs with a new and evolving set of marketable skills. In April 1998 the group became known as Business Support Services Network (BSSN). Issues addressed as a group remain much the same. They relate to small business start-up and operation, business practices and policies, marketing and advertising techniques and technology exchange. As a group, it is our mission to provide relevant, current information to all members through educational meetings and workshops; and it is the goal of each BSSN member to help and support others in their business community. BSSN provides an opportunity for members to share information with each other. Yearly dues for BSSN are $35. Benefits include monthly meetings, monthly newsletter, Web site exposure, member directory, private listserv, and the collective expertise and experience of a group of individuals dedicated to their professions!
